DCC RPG uses the class-as-race philosophy.

The fundamental classes in the rule-as-written are as follows:

  • Cleric
  • Thief
  • Warrior
  • Wizard
  • Dwarf
    • Like a fighter but can shield bash and smell treasure
  • Halfling
    • Like a thief, but also functions as a “luck battery” for the group
  • Elf
    • Like a Wizard/Fighter

Many in the community have found these choices lacking, and so have created alternatives.
